Annual Implementation Report for 2018 approved by the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme

Today, 11th of June 2019, in Varna, Bulgaria the eleventh meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme took place, during which the Annual Implementation Report for 2018 was approved, as well as other decisions important for implementation of the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme.

The main results achieved in 2018 are related to the progress made by the programme through implementing more than 150 projects, finalizing of 40 projects and achieving the following results: public procurements for upgrading of more than 123 km were launched and 7 km of road were already upgraded; 11 protected NATURA 2000 areas developed management tools contributing to improvement of the conservation status of 27,058 hectares of habitats; 32 tourist products/services were created to promote natural and cultural attractions in the cross-border area; education campaigns for risk prevention and management were organized, etc.

In the second part of the day, the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Strategic Planning and Programming of the Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027 was held. Important issues were discussed during the meeting, among which are: challenges of the programming period 2021-2027, the role of the Working Group and its responsibilities and the timetable of the programming process as well as the Concept Note for the Romania - Bulgaria Cross Border Cooperation Program 2021-2027 were approved.
